Intro What if someone wasn't applying for GSoC...

Hi @Daxter and welcome :-) You can "watch" individual threads (top right) for stuff you find interesting, and tag specific users in a post using @ then username and they'll get a ping in their alerts (same when you get pinged, and quotes auto-ping I think). The forum activity isn't overwhelming...

Environment-based Tests and Headless Server questions

So the headless server already exists and is just a way to use the game to run a game server without actually logging in as a client as well. So that's standard multiplayer stuff, not related specifically to testing. Headless client would be similar in the sense that it will be a sort of...

    Intro Hello Teraworld!

Digging around a bit I found this old forum thread: http://forum.terasology.org/threads/dynamic-textures.1547 And on GitHub there is this fork and a few related ones: https://github.com/CC4401-TeraCity/TeraCity There might be more, but that fork contains some of the related code for sure :-)

    Adding more Unit Tests

Submit it as a draft and also feel free to poke us directly for feedback when you're around :-) Drafts in a GDoc are really nice to review and having the entry in the GSOC system allows us to coordinate better between mentors

Design GSoC Project: Biome-based world generator and Earth-like world

Nice work! Very cool to see a functional prototype like that :-) It sounds a bit like you've hit an interesting mix of the Distinct World Gen item and part of the Sector / World Gen Phases item (do check out its thread if you haven't already - but then I bet I probably already shared that on...

    Intro Hello Teraworld!

Welcome! Yay more unit testing and logistics :D You mentioning a tool to measure dependencies reminded me that somebody did that for code metrics using Terasology to visualize the metrics. It was done as an alternative to some Code City tool thing, building the "graphs" in-game. Put together by...

Contributor [GSoC] Hi, I'm Gianluca and I'd like to work on server management API

Welcome @gianluca_n ! It was nice to meet and talk to you on IRC earlier :-)

    Console extensions

Another option: put some additional work into the TeraEd facade. IMHO more outright command line flags would be awkward - even if they are the Linux Way. We already have TeraEd that wraps a rendering debug console around the game window. How about we just extend it to where you can do more...

Intro Hello friends: Brandon Amdur - GSOC

Hiya @bamdur :-) Unit testing and related logistics would be very much appreciated, and is a rare talent so it tends to be less competitive. Check out http://forum.terasology.org/threads/the-world-of-varied-and-noteworthy-achievements.1209 - it sort of both mixes together testing things and...

    Contributor Hey, I'm Mitch

Heya @Vizaxo - check out PolyWorld and CommonWorld as well. Other world gen frameworks / utility :-)

    Intro Hi everyone! I'm Luis!

Welcome @Luis ! It is not too late, although quite a few students have shown up already, so there is some amount of competition, especially for a few specific items like the exploration world. To improve your odds you might want to dig into the other item you listed as I haven't noticed anybody...

Intro [GSOC] Hey Everyone, I'm Jose

Good to have you on board! Not that I'm not already chatting with you on IRC, but intros need responses! :D Any particular GSOC items that look interesting to you?

    Intro Hello from Frank!

Belated response for you here @Frank Dong if you haven't gotten one via IRC yet: Yes you need to submit a PR, but it can be just about anything, it doesn't have to be a complex issue. It could be adding a new unit test or even fixing a typo. It is often better to reach out for live chat on IRC...

    Adding more Unit Tests

Generated unit tests? How does that actually work? I haven't had a chance to check out what Evosuite actually is or does, but would appreciate a quick summary sometime :-)

Intro Hey, I am Krishnasis Mandal.

Hey there, welcome :-) Can you provide any more direction on what you're curious to work on, in relation to GSOC? General bug fixing and such isn't really a suitable GSOC item, but it helps for getting an initial idea of your coding skills and such.

    Contributor re"vamp"ing your world!

Tcl is EVIL. I had to work with a variant (Jacl) for automating Websphere deploys. Sucked :P Feel free to link your GDocs here, via forum convos, on Slack, or whatever. Reviews and feedback are useful for everybody :-) @vampcat have a contributor badge!

Play test session: Sunday March 19th ~ 1 pm US Eastern Time

Test went very well! About 10 new bugs were dug up and several are already fixed or have PRs pending with fixes. NeoTTA was stable enough as was everything else to where Alpha 7 has finally been released, huzzah! Maybe some change notes later but there is so much ... :cautious:

Play test session: Sunday March 19th ~ 1 pm US Eastern Time

Starting play test now - some example focus points to check on: Use Naturecrafting (n) to craft a tool - usually an axe hammer. Harvest dirt (for small rocks and stuff), branches, and leaf blocks Chop down a tree and get at least 7 tree trunk blocks of the same type (or 2 of one and 5 of...

Play test session: Sunday March 19th ~ 1 pm US Eastern Time

Server has been updated using Omega 691 - be sure to grab that release to connect to the server. Although using a source client does work in some cases (automatic module download or good enough source versions) that can lead to quirks :-) Connect to the in-game listing for "Official Event Host"...
