I know we have not gotten there yet but was thinking .....

1) the furnaces/ovens are dark if not cooking something

2) the furnaces/ovens are lite if they are cooking something

3) but there is no way to tell if you have a fuel item (without looking) in a certain furnaces/ovens :(

Question to think about ... Could we have a flame (like a gas furnaces/ovens have) if there is fuel to a furnaces/ovens which uses the fuel but at a very low rate so it we have 8 furnaces/ovens then we will be able to see which have fuel with a quick look :coffee:

IMHO .... this would put us one step higher on the "cool" level because the others don't have any at all

We could think of different colored flames as well, maybe just orange glow for coals, and blueish flames for gas powerd furnaces …

Yup, this would fall under "block variations" I'd say. Like bookshelves that pick a specific block depending on how many books are present in the associated container. When a player adds fuel to a furnace through a GUI or by dropping an item on it an event triggers that changes the block to the appropriate variant :)
