I have consolidated the previously-posted information on mentoring roles into the wiki under GSOC Mentoring roles, which includes more detailed information on the roles of:
  • Architect
  • Bureaucrat
  • Consultant
  • Designer
  • Engineer
  • Follower
Any mistakes were likely introduced by me, so feel free to correct!

Just renamed this thread and stickied it to use for more GSOC process docs, beyond mentor roles. I've added a new big wiki page on the overall process of handling an accepted project from start to finish and beyond: https://github.com/MovingBlocks/Terasology/wiki/GSOC-project-structure

This thread should be good for any year and process discussion / improvements, while a thread like https://forum.terasology.org/threads/gsoc-2018-overview.2163/ can be specific to one instance of the program and get archived later :)

Feedback very much appreciated! This one is somewhat from the perspective of an org admin (although also relevant to mentors and students) while mentor roles is pretty specific to mentoring and we should probably have a more student-centric page at some point talking about expectations and tips for writing applications + making a good impression.
