Yep! But so far only to the level of having checked out some frameworks that sound useful. None of us are actively working on multiplayer, although we occasionally will abstract something in preparation to be able to support both local and remote stuff.

Now if we could find a volunteer who'd be able to dedicate some time to truly implementing something... :D

Because we're also sort of doing this whole thing to learn new tools and techniques we've looked at Dimdwarf (a fork / rewrite of Red Dwarf Server, formerly Project Darkstar by Sun) - which looks very interesting. http://dimdwarf.sourceforge.net

I've kept tabs on that project since before Oracle bought out Sun and stopped support (thus causing the fork/rename) and have always wanted to try using it for something. So it is on my list to look into more closely later, but there are a few other items on my list first.
