Wiki Spammers

They're coming ...
Spammers like our Wiki. More and more people registrate and so more and more spammers come up. I don't care if they put links to subspicious Websites in their Profilepage, but I definetly DON'T like it when people replace whole pages with their PORNLINKS. Like today. The german Mainsite was replaced with this:

What can we do against such ****?

We definitely need to find a (even) better spam protection. I'll have a closer look at it in the next days

AFAIK there is special function in Mediawiki which allows to edit pages only when you have an accounts and account can be blocked before admin approve it.

It does look like the front page was replaced with a simple video link again, even though the prior posts referred to an older occurrence.

I am not sure if Philaxx is still around, I believe he's owns the site. If it isn't actively being used or maintained we might want to try taking it down until it is needed

I tried to revert the page to an older version, which is a little tricky with poor German skills. Ironically I think I'm hitting a broken anti-spam guard that's meant to serve a CAPTCHA image but is failing with "Input error: Invalid referer"

I think the website is completely filled up with spam - couldn't find any real content with "Random Page". In my opinion, it makes a bad impression about Terasology in general as it is now ..

How about shutting it temporarily down, until a maintainer is found? For now, we could redirect visitors to this forum or the github wiki ..

It looks that there is no other way than deleting this wiki and installing new one on server. (it should be multi-ling wiki, eg. en,de,fr,ru,es,pl).
I'll search about multiling wiki.

As from the experience with the wiki (in en and de) there is no real need for them currently. I'll talk to Philaxx to take teh german wiki down as well, and we cen think about setting it up again when hitting alpha.
