In my opinion the multiple-jump-behavior felt weird and I've implemented the current behavior on purpose. But maybe I have a weird taste regarding character controls?
I beleive that a checkbox in the options menu would be nice for this but Cervator I don't think you will ever see the day that everybody is happy but we can try
