Adding to this for more discussion of what we want to store where when it comes to site-stuff.

Before we had a Foswiki instance on our server that hosted a nice and more fully featured wiki than the Xenforo addon we've installed. That one is pretty light-weight and feature poor tho, might not be good to do anything big in.

GitHub also has a wiki option, which we haven't enabled since we had Foswiki and then the XF wiki. But there has been talk about splitting between a development wiki (how to work on the game) and a game wiki (how to play it) - or just letting the growing fan community do game wikis.

I personally think we can automate some documentation, but am not wording myself with good examples enough to get any good traction on my explanation ;) Maybe we can do some light-weight / automated info on the fundamentals on GitHub (split our Readme somewhat into a wiki there), leave the XF wiki for dev stuff, and let the community make more in-depth sites?

In other GitHub news we can put a few pages on GitHub itself to serve as a front-end that doesn't go down with our site here if we somehow get uber-Gronkhed some day in the future - which was the original topic of this thread. We have a temp site up at dl.terasology.org that came out of the built-in generator based on our project readme. 3000Lane did the nice alternative in #272 which we should totally use as a splash/download site, even if it isn't very happy about IE.

I hate the Xenforo wiki. Use the Github wiki for dev stuff, and let the community make more in-depth sites.

Tested out GH wiki: https://github.com/Nanoware/Terasology/wiki/FancyGit

Copy paste of old Foswiki page + quick reformat to Markdown, which wasn't too bad. I like it.

Maybe we can put the main stuff in there that relates to understanding the game and its development, and if we need it use the XF wiki for design stuff (collaborating on feature brainstorming like creature questions or miniions)

Bump - just to put a note somewhere http://terasology.org is now fronting http://movingblocks.github.com with the splash site 3000Lane started and NowNewStart + MiJyn helped with :)

https://github.com/MovingBlocks/Terasology/issues/272 is complete! Long live https://github.com/MovingBlocks/movingblocks.github.com

Skaldarnar - keep an eye out on this, sort of a web analogue to the launcher, we should try to keep them looking similar, and the main download link on the splash site should go to the stable launcher when it is ready :)

We've gone through another pile of tweaks and the splash site is shaping up nicely. Still some stuff to do like fix button text and enhance with videos. But I like it, seems presentable and a good intro rather than dump people straight on the forum or on GitHub :)

Great place to eventually put official trailers, too.
