Voxatron

Voxatron is beating us at our own game! Check out the Firefox home page and their collaboration with Humble Bundle. There's a game called Voxatron and it's pretty cool! Nice little simple combat and exploration stuff. Anything we can learn from or steal? ; )

Note that you can blow up the trunk of the tree, and the tree comes crashing down in a very satisfying explosion of voxels.

Heh, I think I have an early version of that game somewhere on my hard drive. Or on one of the external ones.

The gameplay is really fun, and the exploding voxels look indeed great. As far as I remember the levels are flat, and not very big (or at least the viewing distance is very limited). I personally like the overall style of smaller voxels...

Agreed it is a cool little thing and great style. Easier to make something tiny spiffy - we're trying to make something huge

Reminds me of Cubeworld, which does the smaller explodey voxels too, yet remains performant (no textures, all full color voxels)
