    GSOC 2016 - DONE!

We've entered the proposal period and already have a few submitted - nice! Yet we still have more students showing up. Getting a bit late to start and the bar is already pretty high. Anything is possible but if you hope to get a GSOC spot you probably should be coding easy (or harder!) topics by...

Intro Hope I'm not too late!

Hi @wc1997 nice to meet you on IRC earlier :-) It isn't too late yet although the proposal period has already started, so not a whole lot of time to prep! Have you set up to run from source yet? Check out the contributor friendly issues list on GitHub for small stuff to start looking at as well...

    Intro Hey!

Hey @petert37 and welcome :-) Check out the main GSOC thread when you get a chance and let us know if you get up and running from source (doc in the main GitHub repo) Have you checked out the discussion on the mobile management issue on GitHub? There's some initial added guidance there like...

    Intro GSOC introduction

Hey there @TomND nice to meet you :) The Leap is definitely a fun little toy, doubly so if you have an Oculus to strap it to. I've got both and am sure I've looked like an idiot trying to pop floating bubbles in VR :D In fairness it would be a tricky GSOC item especially not having a unit yet...

    Contributor Helloez Allz!

Hi @Anthodeus nice intro, and thanks for the kind words :) And haha yeah way back years ago at the peak of the MLP craze we had one particularly enthusiastic fellow so I ended up throwing a quick emoticon set together for the occasion. Sourced it from EVE University's forum where it was all the...

    Source Hi TERASOLOGY :)

For documentation you have a few options: Some/most modules have a thread in the Module forum. Varies how much info though, the MOO thread only has one post: http://forum.terasology.org/threads/master-of-oreon.1015/ The engine wiki has the general dev setup doc + some basic guides on how the...

Project ES refactoring and random playing with OpenGL

I think it has a certain charm to it for one tree type - but you'd probably need additional ways to show other types

    Source Greetings from the newbie!

Yep that looks about right :-) If the engine is a bit overwhelming try to focus on a module to help learn how it all works. You could check out https://github.com/Terasology/TutorialWorldGeneration to learn a bit about world gen or https://github.com/Terasology/TutorialAssetSystem to learn...

Dev meeting Saturday March 12th. Architectural topics beyond engine v1.0.0

Alright, belated after meeting report here - solid meeting :) @Marcin Sciesinski already posted a thread on his further work elsewhere. But to go over the meeting points chronologically real quick: The v1.0.0 engine release is in progress, but as expected the prep is taking a while. Got a ton...

Project ES refactoring and random playing with OpenGL

Good stuff :-) The finer shapes doable there remind me of @woodspeople's proof of concept in Python of a growth simulator (which is even a GSOC item). It produced plants with far more detail like that. Could that work together theoretically? Or is it too much rendering trickery in use vs. the...

Intro Let physics rule the world

Hey @Palaxin - awesome looking ore in that mod you linked! :-) Got me confused on your algorithm comment - do you mean the ocean basin shaping or something more fundamental to height maps? We got working height maps but one of the items on the PlaTec wishlist is for it to be feeding its data...

    Source Hi TERASOLOGY :)

Yep all development should be done on the engine's develop branch :-) The master branch is more for reference ("This is how the code looked like last release"). Really it could just be a Git tag rather than a branch, I'm just having a hard time letting go of branches as a code automation guy :D

    Intro Hello Everybody!!

Welcome @Jai Aggarwal ! AI is a great topic and a big one at that. It might be tricky to attempt for GSOC as several other students have expressed interest in the behavior tree setup, but we are always happy to help teach in general too :-) Embedded & electronics I'm not sure of, unless maybe...

    Source Hi TERASOLOGY :)

Hey @Upekshe Jay and good to know you got a bit further :-) To actually get the MOO module you can fetch it with the following Gradle command: "gradlew fetchModuleMasterOfOreon" (run from a command prompt in the root of your Terasology source workspace) That'll cause Gradle to go clone the...

    Source Greetings from the newbie!

Hey @Nikhil and welcome ! Glad you got the setup issue sorted out (convo) Yeah we'll have plenty of topics even with GSOC squared away. In addition to the contributor friendly issues we'll be building a Playability milestone over the coming days and weeks, that'll contain both easy small stuff...
