Dupe Huge view distance without the lag

This topic has come up a time or two in the past and is definitely something we need. An issue exists - feel free to add more ideas to it :-) https://github.com/MovingBlocks/Terasology/issues/319

    Tweaking NUI

Thank you for this awesome next big step - the new menu looks fantastic! :omg: I've started looking for issues here and there and putting them on GitHub. With NUI merged in I figure it is mature enough to let the masses at it, with both small bug fixes and starting to apply it to the modules...

    Archived [Plant] Milk & Coffee

3-7 or so, depending on how many distinct stages can exist and still look good :-) With the ChangingBlocks module we could then make the plants grow as crops

    Archived [Plant] Milk & Coffee

Excellent! :D I bet we could give the coffee drop an energy boost buff to make creatures move faster for a period (and then slower for a while ...) :coffee: Would be great to get these in growth stages so we can add them to the Crops module :-)

Resolved Need help with dev setup... (gradlew eclipse using wrong Java version)

JumboDS64 - that's a known issue for Java 7 on Macs: https://github.com/MovingBlocks/Terasology/issues/818 As per one of the common issues noted on the wiki you can fix it by deleting /System/Library/Java/Extensions/vecmath.jar :-) Just a goofy Apple/Java quick

    Ummm...Hello

That's fine too, but still a bit early - we don't have a headless server option yet, currently you have to host using the client itself, then give friends your IP so they can connect. We need to do some graphics work before we can use a headless server, might be a few months still. Right now...

Badged! Thanks for the intro post and your existing work, hope to see more soon :D

Resolved Need help with dev setup... (gradlew eclipse using wrong Java version)

As long as you git clone Terasology then gradlew idea then version control should be fully set up already :geek: Just be sure that you "Open existing project" in IntelliJ and outright pick and open the Terasology.ipr file. Don't import the project or open it as a Gradle project :-) The...

The End is Near - for the Great Convergence!

Esereja is correct: You do not need permission to fork the project, it is open source under the Apache 2.0 license terms which mean you can do pretty much anything you want to the code as long as you keep attribution in place (leave author notes and stuff like that) Fork away, and let us know...

    Resource modules

True that - I want to try out the player-centered spawning again soon and know there's an event to catch to attach it. Could be better to do something similar.

    Resource modules

Sounds pretty much like what we intended modules to be - building blocks more than traditional full "mods" :-) There's still some open questions on exactly how to deal with optional module stuff - like having Spawning available in general so you could throw in definitions for that in a model...

    Build A World

Very nice! I love the modern look. Fellow has done good work (I get a hunch from the FB page that he might even be Danish, heh), project just seems to be relatively unknown still. He might be overly optimistic thinking of it as the best block game ever and trying to sell it for 25 EU though...

    Minecraft/cuby styled models

You should be able to add animations right in Blender, you set those up before ever exporting the files for Terasology :-) Or play existing ones if the model already has them

Resolved I want to play Terasology

Arne Garbade - yep - at any time you can download the builds off GitHub or via Jenkins, but the launcher has a lot of handy utility like updates, customizing directories, etc. And that'll only improve over time :-) But for now it should be fixed! Worked for me and looks good

Resolved I want to play Terasology

Hi Arne Garbade and thanks a lot for the log file! We've hit an issue with the launcher lately and thanks to that log I think I see it WARN 240946 - The game version info can not be loaded from the file 'C:\Users\garb_priv\AppData\Roaming\Terasology\STABLE\TerasologyStable\29\Terasology.jar'...

    Minecraft/cuby styled models

A render loop in the style of the youtube videos glasz has put up in the past would indeed be ideal :-) He is probably also your best resource, or Maternal although he's only around rarely (especially on IRC) We discussed it recently over here...

    Gametype: ExBlocksion

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about advanced modelling right now. IMHO we need working gameplay more. Model polish comes later :-) Seeing the L&S models animate and move around doing stuff using the behavior trees from synopia is awesome and adding held tools to that (which glasz is...

    Implementation Cities

Currently full reflections are only enabled at the "natural" sea level in the Perlin worlds as I guess they have to recalculate for every y coordinate :-( Although there appear to be multiple reflection settings now, I'm not sure how they differ - begla would know!

Proposal: moving math stuff to an independent repository

I've got a chronic case of frameworkitis / library-itis so I'm trying to stay low profile :D But Apache? Sounds cool, if Mike Kienenberger is already involved and able to help guide. If there is potential to flesh that out more, anyway. In that case would noise fit into the same lib? Although...

    Block Selection

Thank you! Better selection is one of the key foundation pieces we need to do fancier stuff like having the player designate "rooms" and stuff like that :-) I meant to badger synopia about that sometime but this works too :D Am oddly curious to see random color selection added sometime.
