Featured February play test and dev sessions - GSOC up next!

Narrator: it did! Not that I got back to updating this right after, but we had a very productive play test and piled in a ton more notes for https://github.com/MovingBlocks/Terasology/projects/4 - now it is about time for the one in March, hopefully we can sort out some of the remaining triage...

Featured February play test and dev sessions - GSOC up next!

Next scheduled play test is in about 24 hours (noon eastern time Saturday), although it might be more of an on-and-off type thing for the weekend when there's activity and testing interest. In addition I'd like to run a few dev discussion sessions like we did back during the holidays as they...

    Question Can't connect to multiplayer

Plus, the official event host is only online for actual events :-) Official stable + unstable tend to always be online but there's a performance issue causing them to break down too soon to keep them online right now.

    Featured Holiday Hackathon 2018

Belated happy New Year to everybody! Thought I would round out this thread with a final update. Lots of good stuff happened the last two weeks GCI winners are about to be announced, and the GCI trip is in planning. We'll be sending a mentor along with our two winners. Still plenty of GCI stuff...

    Featured Holiday Hackathon 2018

@Soundwave recommends a useful looking primer on Dependency Injection, good for the architecture. Grab a cup of coffee or two then dive in :D https://martinfowler.com/articles/injection.html

    Featured Holiday Hackathon 2018

GCI has finished as of a few days ago, hooray lots of new stuff and cool students! Prizes won't be announced till early January though, oh the suspense :) Finalist evaluation is now in progress, and in just about a month GSOC season begins although we won't know for a while if we'll manage to...

    Internationalisation

Thanks @Ruffian - looks like even the nightly restart can't keep Weblate working anymore :-( At this point I suspect we may well want to consider an alternative like https://crowdin.com/ - or at least majorly update our instance which has been unstable since we set it up. Looks like there's a...

Suggested Biome hacking and natural evolution

I'm a big fan of this concept and have had similar ideas for years. We have all the pieces and just need them put together, as is often the case :) Biome-per-block supports changing biomes over time, either via natural process or player intervention. @Adrijaned even did a bonus PR during GCI to...

Design Unique Terasology constructed language ("conlang") script

Arise, thread, arise! From the depths of the past I summon thee. After a long hibernation I've gotten back to this and am in touch with Britton again. In no time at all (before we even made it to a video conference meet-up less than a week later) he already put together a preview that looks so...

    Featured Happy 7th birthday, Terasology!

(belated reply to @brylie in addition to a poke on chat: of course yep please do!) On related news I'm out of town on another business trip, and will be unable to host tomorrow :-( So unless somebody else can step in I'll aim to run something usual time next Saturday instead. We've got Alpha...

    Featured Happy 7th birthday, Terasology!

Absolutely agreed @brylie! We should be posting to all kinds of different places and keep up more regularly. It is one of the things that has mostly fallen on the wayside as I've gotten increasingly more occupied with other stuff, as it was usually just me posting all the things in various...

    Featured Happy 7th birthday, Terasology!

Bump - something funny happened this weekend: before I ever had a chance to post birthday celebration notes on social media and start formally we got so busy with project activity and new people arriving that we never had time to really celebrate! Only got one event server online before getting...

    GCI 2018 - Done!

GSOC season is over! Which means it is time for GCI instead, with even less rest for the weary than last year as it got moved up a month this time, meaning it starts for students in about three weeks. Coincidentally that also means it will partially overlap with Hacktoberfestwhich starts...

    Featured Happy 7th birthday, Terasology!

And first formal news post in a while, although it is starting out pretty small. It'll grow over the next week! The first project post is still around, and it sure has been an adventure since, and continues to be. Hard to keep on top of all the happenings these days as the project has expanded...

Architecture discussion for v3 [engine split / engine-libs]

On test coverage - I might be reading between the lines here but I figured @oniatus meant to select for sub-projects that would be suitable for very high test coverage to reach for the big 100%. It is true that some things test more poorly. The engine-libs thing in general IMHO has good...

GSOC 2018 - done! Summary blog posted

Maybe final bump! Summary blog post is now up for what happened over the summer: https://terasology.org/2018/09/02/gsoc-2018-results.html GSOC Mentor Summit is in about a month and a half and as a SURPRISE the GCI signup is less than a week away, starting a month early this year, ack! Haven't...

GSOC 2018 - done! Summary blog posted

After a long productive time we're now nearing in on the end of GSOC - what a time is has been :-) All 9 projects have been doing well, with a few bumps and bruises here and there. Mentor activity has been problematic at times, unusually so this year. I've got more notes and theories on that...
