    LibGDX just went 1.0

Happened to notice and wanted to post the link here: http://www.badlogicgames.com/wordpress/?p=3412 LibGDX was what inspired the facade approach to our setup, although I expect we aren't using them quite the same way yet (ours are pretty minimal). It'll probably be easier to adopt LibGDX...

    Archived Alpha

Thanks! Edited all that in, shuffled into categories somewhat :-) Might cause some more GitHub spam tomorrow with more alpha issues. Although all those extra items make me question September more :coffee:

    Project Logistics Arc

Finally categorized the ridiculous todo dump in the first thread. Yay! Also did some cross-referencing and poked at issues on GitHub a bunch. Will probably do another pass along with the Alpha thread soon'ish. Been pouring issues into the Alpha milestone on GitHub too.

depth of a file, "internal" folder

manu3d - ran across this by chance, thought you might like a link :-) http://forum.movingblocks.net/threads/block-entity-behavior.792 It is another example of amazing documentation we have - yet probably nobody knows/remembers that it exists because it is lost deep in the forum somewhere :D...

    Resolved Bad FPS

Hi therysin and thanks for the kind words! Interesting observation there. We've got these kinds of odd situations where Terasology runs poorly even on great hardware. Lots of optimizing left to do for sure, and those kinds of observations are key. With begla away for RL crunch time we don't...

    Archived Alpha

Good point, and well put - we do need a translation framework sooner or later. Unsure when, but at least added it to the list :) Edit: A few internationalization posts were split out into a separate thread

    Archived Alpha

This has been heavily updated with a new approach - will aim to get that validated at the upcoming meeting. ALPHA definition = Game is relatively stable from the user's perspective. Most breaking or visually jarring changes that have a user impact should be out of the way when we declare...

    Terasology Code Style Conventions

Is that specific to IntelliJ though ? That might be the biggest issue in adding these sorts of meta-tags - unless there is a type supported across all three major IDEs, or maybe even more editors. It is a cool thought, but not sure how viable :-)

depth of a file, "internal" folder

You've pretty much just described a Javadoc package descriptor, which I agree would be a huge help to have more of. We actually have quite a few of them, but unfortunately mostly they're just used to tag entire packages for the API, and lack any actual documentation :) There are a few good...

Is there an external map viewer? Would that be useful?

Good point :-) Do we have any "head of household" information for block families that could be useful, as in the base block to display in an inventory, then base any maps on that? Mike Kienenberger - how do you deal with that in AWT? msteiger - Cities?

Is there an external map viewer? Would that be useful?

Would it need to know more about blocks than what the general or top face texture is per block id? Wade L - sounds like it would be better to wait for the vertical chunking to make the data easier to read. Of course, by then, we might also have the added challenge of layered maps :D

Definitely a question for Immortius - ping! :-)

    Project Logistics Arc

So that was weird. Initial problem was easy, modules weren't resolving the very last snapshot version so stuff broke due to using pre-change dependencies. But then the engine build started failing during the javadoc step for the PC facade - seemingly due to scanning the just-built...

Is there an external map viewer? Would that be useful?

Might be a good question to ping Immortius for - so - ping :-)

    Project Logistics Arc

Round one has been merged Transitive dependencies should now work in a local workspace, as in Jenkins - but I might have gone out of sync somewhere. The engine build works fine, AnotherWorld built fine, GrowingFlora failed - I still need to do some cleanup in Jenkins and Artifactory, it may be...

Is there an external map viewer? Would that be useful?

Hi Wade L and welcome :-) I'm glad you got some good feedback already. In addition to everything listed a map via HTML would be an awesome extra, especially if paired together with some limited game server interaction (like chat or even commands). So pretty much like a DynMap analogue :geek...

    dev/main, java

src/main and all that follow the Maven Standard Directory Layout which can explain the reasoning and give much better examples than I can do here. Yep, src/test is for tests :-) We diverge in a few spots, such as with src/dev - those spots are for utilities that aren't really part of the main...

Systems and Components to learn from

Thanks a bunch to you both, we badly need more documentation like this :-) manu3d - feel free to go nuts in the GitHub wiki. It could use the effort! Modding guide and Modding API were more like ideas long ago that weren't followed through on enough - they need overhauls for sure.

    Inactive Candy Stuff

Looks great and sounds good to me, I like the idea of a not-so-serious game mode. Populous with terraforming the land into candy/cake stuff to expand sounds fun :D It also isn't actually too far from other game modes. We've talked about in Light & Shadow to have the faction "claim" territory...

    T-Shirts, Merchandise & Co

Nice! Sweet to actually see that on a real shirt. I came here to post the reminder that we have a bunch of shirt designs and that's one of them, haha :D
