[Aug 18, 2012] Dev Meeting - organization (#terasology on Freenode IRC)

I dunno. The events module is an addon, not core, same guy who did the wiki so it might not be feature complete

    Biomes and map generation

Great - thanks! Also, it isn't my expertise, but I figured the polygons things was for creating the "world map" layer - then actual chunk-level detail would generate later as needed, which could possibly generate overhangs and so on via whatever tactic that uses

[Aug 18, 2012] Dev Meeting - organization (#terasology on Freenode IRC)

Okay, apologies for the short notice on this one, have been dropping hints and notes here and there, but have been too busy to get some stuff in place I wanted ready before announcing this. We'll aim to do a dev meeting on IRC this coming Saturday around 5 pm EST. Focus is on project...

    Archived Serious cave/waterbug

Yup! Definite space for improvement in that area, probably along with other world gen improvements :D

    Archived Minor treebug

Yeah, the terrain validation didn't keep up with the bigger trees - we need a curator for tree generation who can add that and more trees / forest biomes :-) Bugs can be reported here or via GitHub's issue tracker, I think that's enough?

    Perdemot

Welcome Perdemot ! Think I saw your name on IRC earlier. Happy to have you on board - x3ro there is one of our GUI devs, along with miniME89 and Adeon - good thread to read through over here ! Edit: Note to self - Perdemot is also interested in villages, might be good collaboration potential...

Automation is good :-) At this point I'll be happy to just insert more models in-game. Then textures, then animations, then ...

    Terasology Code Style Conventions

I kept an eye out for a good example and with the GUI stuff from miniME89 we got a few "violations" in for the star import rule we're playing with :-) http://jenkins.movingblocks.net/job/TestCheckstyle/8/checkstyleResult Any more thoughts on exactly how we should do the import rules? Just...

    Biomes and map generation

Great initiative! Have you roamed around the forum and issue tracker some too? There's another nice world gen thread in the incubator for instance, talking mostly about world shape, finite vs infinite, etc. Polygon-based island / continent / civilization generators have come up too, and I love...

    Archived Worldcreating very Slow

It is hard to really say what might be making it slow on your system. There is lots of good potential for us to make it faster, however - it just may take a little while :-)

    Chris' Music Showcase

Excellent! At 5-6 hours to that level of polish? Doesn't seem bad at all :-) I can somewhat concur with Nym Traveel on the piano, the start had a more sinister feel to it with the bits of drums and what not. The piano is still great, and fits pretty well anyway, but orcs and pianos...

Dupe Launcher, automated updates, and versioning

Sounds like good potential, yeah. One thing at a time though, looking forward to the base version! :-)

    Chris' Music Showcase

Cave piece sounds great, I love the background :D Now we need to get a hook for cave music. Then next we need to take it a step further and trigger a "startle" music / sound effect as the player turns and suddenly faces a monster, then use that as a transition into a more hectic combat piece...

    Terasology-fan Ideen/Verbesserungen/Vorschläge-5

Agreed - we need some flatter biomes :-)

    Double_A

Liechtenstein? Neat! If you're not totally shy about coding, maybe you could help get the models into the game too? overdhose wrote a little guide in the local wiki about how to use a different model for the miniion monkeyheads. Might be a good thing to play with to get familiar with the code...

    Archived Worldcreating very Slow

Your PC isn't too bad, it is low to mid-range, but Terasology isn't super optimized yet. This will improve over time :-) Curiously, have you had that computer for a long time without reinstalling Windows? Windows PCs tend to slow down over time, especially if you've installed a lot of software...

    Terasology : The Game

Slower harvesting encourages enlisting creatures, so yeah, I think that's a good thing - for that game mode :-) Protect the Cube sounds like an entertaining twist on Capture the Flag. I like it! Could be a nice toggle if you wanted to play that way. Heck, it would slide right into a Capture...

    WIP Animals

glasz - needs a cutie wound  Edit: basilix - I grabbed your pull request so your two models are on GitHub now - thanks a lot, and perfectly put together. Now we just need somebody around here to put them to use in the game!
