    Implementation Lakes

Just during chunk generation I believe. Very similar to TTA's very CPU-intensive world gen :-) On a system that has trouble keeping up with rendering it would probably be worse. Here that was doing fine so the CPU could focus more exclusively on world gen. Or something like that. Lava lakes woo!

    Implementation Lakes

Tested it out on my system, which is relatively beefy. I dunno if dedicated GPU would make a difference though? This is way more CPU bound. Spun all 8 cores to 100% for the duration of my test, slowing down chunk generation substantially (was easily able to get to the edge of generation and...

    A Brand New Logo

That's a beautiful icon @Trekmarvel ! I wonder how it would low in as low as 48x48, that's the smallest icon I can see at https://github.com/MovingBlocks/DestSolAndroid/tree/master/res Should the text perhaps be enlarged just slightly, maybe 10-20% both horizontally and vertically? Could you...

    Contributor Why hello there!

Welcome officially to the forum! I just maxed my valks in Clash of Clans the other day, totally OP! :D Have a contributor badge and keep up the good work :)

    GSOC 2016 - DONE!

Just past a week till the coding period begins! Also found out today the mentor summit will be October 28-30th in Sunnyvale California. Up to two mentors can go on at least partial travel stipends. I'd like to go and check it out, anybody else interested? Tomorrow (Saturday) I'm putting aside...

    A Brand New Logo

Cool :-) I think the Android icons are the ones expected to be square. I vaguely remember having to provide a bunch of different sizes, but am not actually sure how far I got with that. Been a while and I need to get back up to speed on Android dev. Also: Art badge coming your way, seems good...

    A Brand New Logo

I poked Milosh via email and he likes it too :) @Trekmarvel I figure we have your permission to use it officially both for the game all over and even for soundtrack stuff on various other sites? Edit: Also, we may need a perfectly square version for some places, able to squish it a little bit...

    Design Combat

That's exactly what I meant :-) If you decouple all the systems like that without having to wait for one piece to get ready before you can test another piece you can involve more people more easily. As well as merge more often. Maybe one person looks at how to make it possible to hit a specific...

    Design Combat

Discussion has been going on here and there on this, some on Slack, some on IRC, and now even Trello :-) We should probably bump this thread once in a while with some summaries/decisions. After reading through the recent IRC log (argh, the one time I sleep in really late) with discussion...

    Implementation Gooey's Quests

Neat! Very cool to see it get into structures :-) I wonder how hard it would be to make an external editor like VoxelShop (pinging @flux!) take a voxelated structure from the drawing program and create a .prefab or custom asset you could then use in-game to load up such an object placer.

    Dupe Android port?

Not yet. It isn't a super simple change even though Terasology is already written in Java. We adopted Destination Sol in part to get more exposure to Android programming. It uses a framework called LibGDX which is based on top of another one called LWJGL. We use LWJGL at present. So at some...

    WIP Player/NPCs models

Well, for starters, we're not Minecraft ... :-) Secondly, we could support MC skins, just nobody has put in the effort yet. Yay open source! Anybody could add it, really. Any "official" focus would likely try to make us stand out a little more, try a more novel angle.

    Dynamic textures

So your project won't have any extra modules unless you fetch them from the right repo on http://github.com/Terasology - you can use "gradlew fetchModuleX" in a local engine workspace to fetch the module repo from there named "X" However, it will quickly become problematic to run modules or...

    A Brand New Logo

Hey @Trekmarvel that's pretty good! :-) Could you supply it in a .svg or a set of different sizes? For Android in particular we need a whole bunch of variants for logos and such (different resolutions).

    GSOC 2016 - DONE!

Okay thanks for all the feedback :-) I did a bit of a write-up of my recommendations in a different thread just so we can discuss it separately: http://forum.terasology.org/threads/organizing-via-forum-on-github-with-zenhub-waffle-io-replacement-and-in-trello.1544/ It is a bit sizable, but...

Organizing via forum, on GitHub, with ZenHub (waffle.io replacement), and in Trello

Time for another round of tool talk! I've done a similar thread or two in the past. While contributors are free to pick their own tools I'm still hunting the perfect template we can recommend for project work. New tool candidate this time around: Zenhub.io - largely in part from our first ever...

Resolved Game crashes when generating world

Hi @DragLee - it looks related to your video card. We have known issues with the Intel HD Graphics, maybe it is getting picked for the game rather than the GeForce? That would have a way better chance to work than the Intel HD. Not very familiar with exactly how to make sure the better card...

    GSOC 2016 - DONE!

Oh, and office hours with mentors also came up. This is a bit tricky since we're all somewhat irregularly available. Most the main mentors are in Europe, so I imagine weekday evenings European time will be the most ideal times, as are likely some weekends with perhaps expanded hours. Saturdays...

    GSOC 2016 - DONE!

We've discussed the possibility of adopting a few more ideas as unofficial projects, maybe with up to a $500 code bounty. See this update in the "Continuing Mentoring" thread for details. As for what comes next: we need to get organized for the summer both for official and unofficial projects...

Continuing mentoring beyond GSOC and new issue markings?

Alright, time for an update :) The new labels are in place on GitHub, the old "Contributor Friendly" will be phased out. We're on http://up-for-grabs.net now, any similar sites? With GSOC projects finally assigned we can also build a better list of what's there, what's taken, and what could be...
