Happy 4th birthday Terasology! Maybe our quest is near a milestone?

Felt ever so artistic, so I drew a thing: I probably already made something like this in the past elsewhere. And pretend there's a box (or circle!) around the whole thing and that's Omega. Engine goes v1.0.0 - yay! JS, TTA, L&S (and Cities, and so on) have each their own maturity level, but...

Happy 4th birthday Terasology! Maybe our quest is near a milestone?

Thinking about setting a time of 4 pm EDT tomorrow for a dev meeting (link goes to timer) to talk about engine v1.0.0 just so we have something to aim for. I should be able to go all day after that so no worries about being late, I can keep a log :-) Not that slack-gooey doesn't already do so...

Happy 4th birthday Terasology! Maybe our quest is near a milestone?

Not an hour or two after posting that I naturally hit the first other activity I'm drafted into this weekend, so I might be missing for early Saturday (till noon-mid-afternoon my time). If anybody wants to get anything started early and needs hardware just let me know. I can spin up a beefy game...

Suggested What I think the game should be, an X-post from reddit

Thanks for the copypasta! You'd be most welcome to put some Java learning to use here :-) We're roughly heading that direction, with varying degrees of completeness. On not just repeating what MC has done we have our super neat and powerful entity system along with a nice facet-based world...

Development methodology and hi students from Porto

@andrelago13 -very close, yep. Modules are all stored in independent repositories and stay there. We build them in our Jenkins server and distribute from there. Most modules have just one author so PRs are rarely needed, but occasionally in a more active module there might be multiple authors...

    Implementation Josharias Survival

Hi @hansonry and thanks! :-) Curiously are you using the latest Terasology release or the latest dev build? There are some fixes in the latest dev for JS. @Josharias can probably answer more closely if anything relevant has been fixed and/or how to do the coal thing.

Happy 4th birthday Terasology! Maybe our quest is near a milestone?

At least we're about to have quests! Our project's 4th birthday was just recently, about two weeks ago but yours truly here has been slammed with crazy crunch time at my day job. So celebrating a bit delayed here :-) I've mostly escaped from my responsibilities and cleared the whole coming...

    Resolved Crashing on the Menu

Thanks for the logs! Bit of bad news though, you're getting graphics warnings logged from the game using your card :( 21:31:26.086 [main] ERROR org.terasology.rendering.opengl.FBO - FrameBuffer: sceneOpaque, has caused a GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_FORMATS_EXT exception 21:31:26.087 [main]...

    Implementation Josharias Survival

Suggestion now that we have tasks/quests and an updated minimap - overhaul the JS tutorial (could probably do TTA eventually too) to trigger quests for each step on what to do next. So instead of having to remember opening the help system / journal (which you can still do for more instructions)...

Development methodology and hi students from Porto

So I got a note (several really, and maybe others did too) from Porto, Portugal, where some students are doing a project seemingly analyzing open source projects for development methodology and such. Terasology has come up with some questions asked :) I thought I'd get a forum thread up for...

@FredoMaster - you've got the style covered pretty well, very good work so far! For this ship in particular if it is to be part of the "dark empire" maybe throw in some bits of dark red and dark green in some places, like the cockpit / bridge areas. I do love the blue highlights and overall...

Looks awesome! We could base the symbols on how angry the quest giver is. So if you see a #@%*&$^! you might want to skip it ...

Resolved Need help: Tera Newbie has a crashing game and doesnt know why

Hi @Karmapanda :-) Your computer is plenty strong for Terasology and you're fine there. You have two issues You're enabling a lot of modules. Imagine running MC with every mod you could find and cram into the game. That's a recipe for instability. The "Gameplay Templates" are what we test for...

Hi @FredoMaster and nice to see you on the forum! I saw you had been by our IRC earlier and I wasn't around at that point but hopefully we'll connect there soon :-) Your art is more than good enough to be put to use! We need more structures for the planets for one thing, and more space ships :D

Aurelien Ribon box2d editor - abandoned?

Migrated / exported to https://github.com/MovingBlocks/box2d-editor for initial review. It badly needs some Gradle magic :-) If we can get it working well we could announce intent to try maintaining / improving it together with Destination Sol. But lets make sure we want to go there first, some...

    Implementation Josharias Survival

The tech web in Civilization: Beyond Earth was one of the very few things I liked about the game, other than the colorful graphics and neato resources. It didn't really matter much since the game itself was so thin and pointless, but the concept is neat enough. CivBE had affinities, a Terasology...

    Kickstarter - The Dwarves

Got a reminder set for it already if they still need a little more near the end, but it looks like they'll push past the goal easily :-) Looks cool! Even if I never knew about the books. Must be extra cool in that case  (Also, we need dwarf emoticons, closest I could get was the devil...

Contribute to open source, get a free shirt!

GitHub and DigitalOcean, both services we use, are running an event over October called Hacktoberfest To encourage open source contributions anywhere they'll mail you a free shirt for having submitted (and gotten merged, I guess?) four PRs. It looks like they'll pretty much scan all of GitHub...
